Hill 16 gets the go-ahead
GAA headquarters in Corke Park, Dublin
GAA headquarters could hold over 82,000 spectators when finished
The GAA have been given the go-ahead to revamp the famous Hill 16 terrace in Croke Park.

Following a long, drawn-out planning application, the decision was finally granted - four years after the original application was turned down.

However, the GAA will face some tough decisions on whether to finish off the impressive north Dublin venue which would raise the capacity to 82,300.

Any decision to start work on the final phase of the stadium would depend on the level of funding available.

At present the GAA are facing high borrowings and a decision to start work on Hill 16 will be processed by the Mangement Committee.

The GAA had hoped to start work this year, but the Government's recent decision to withdraw promised grant aid is likely to delay the project.
