All-Ireland Football Champions Armagh dominated the Bass Ulster GAA Writers Awards night in Bundoran on Friday.

Joe Kernan's squad picked up three awards including the footballer of the year and the personality honour.

Midfielder Paul McGrane was named footballer of the Year while the jovial Benny Tierney took the personality award.

The man who made it happen, Joe Kernan won chairman John Graham's special award.

Armagh skipper Kieran McGeeney also joined up with Peter Canavan (Tyrone NFL), Gerard O'Kane (Derry minors), Adrian McGuckin Jnr (Ballinderry), Paddy Nugent (Antrim junior hurlers) in receiving awards for their All-Ireland title wins.

Over 700 people attended the Ulster GAA Writers banquet
Joe Kernan also won an award

Armagh success continued with Keady woman Collette McKeever winning the camogie award and Una Kearney earning the referee honour.

Kearney refereed this year's All-Ireland Junior Camogie decider.

Ciaran Herron deservedly earned the hurling award after a fine season for Antrim - capped by a superb display for the county in the All-Ireland Quarter-Final against Tipperary.

Ballinderry were virtually a unanimous choice for the club award after their tremendous AIB All-Ireland Football title in March.

St Paul's Belfast's Sibeal McKenna succeeded her sister Fiona in earning the handball award while Down GAA stalwart TP Murphy won the services award.

TP was unable to attend the function because of ill-health so his award was accepted by Down football manager Paddy O'Rourke.

Monaghan had double success with Edel Byrne winning the lady footballer award and county PRO Sean McKenna picking up the communications award.
