Reon King has played 14 Tests

New Irish coach Adrian Birrell feels Friday's match will present his side with a big test.

"There's also no doubt that A players put everything into each game they play - they're either trying to regain their place in the full Test side or striving to win their first cap," said Birrell.

"There's every incentive for them to perform at their peak and that's what we're expecting them to do".

Birrell sees the two games as another big "learning curve" in getting to know his Irish players.

He's been in charge for one first class game since he became national coach in April - the C & G Trophy defeat against Nottinghamshire in Dublin in late May.

"I've already got to know the players - and those knocking on the door' - very well through squad sessions, club games and the new Inter-Regional Challenge matches.

"But really there's no better way of judging players than seeing them perform out in the middle against top level opposition," he added.
