The first Rally Ireland is to begin with a 'superspecial' spectator stage at Stormont in Belfast on 15 November. The drivers will make the journey from rally HQ in Sligo to participate in the curtain-raiser in the grounds of Northern Ireland's parliament building.
The rally visits counties Sligo, Cavan, Leitrim, Donegal, Fermanagh and Tyrone.
Ireland's WRC round is being headed by Jordan Grand Prix founder Eddie Jordan with former Ireland rugby player Trevor Ringland acting as vice-chairman.
Northern Ireland Office minister Paul Goggins said: "With many millions of people viewing the event around the world, kicking off this world championship round at Stormont is a wonderful opportunity to raise Northern Ireland's profile."
Rally Ireland joins Norway and Portugal as new additions to the 2007 line-up with Cyprus, Australia and Turkey making way.
