Wales Rally GB forest stages will now be run twice on the same day |
The Wales Rally GB will have a new look this year after the event was given the go-ahead to switch the stage order. The traditional Carmarthenshire first stages of Brechfa and Trawscoed will now be run on Sunday's final leg.
The Resolven and Rheola forest stages in the Vale of Neath will be run on the opening leg on Friday 1 December.
All forest stages will be run twice on the same day, so spectators will have a treat on Saturday's leg north of Brecon in Crychan, Epynt and Halfway.
As well as providing extra value for spectators, the decision to run stages twice should reduce the amount of travelling and congestion on local roads.
A draft of the new route was sent to the FIA, the world governing body, and the World Rally Championship teams earlier in May for approval.
The ceremonial start on Thursday 30 November and also Saturday's super special stage of the final round of the 2006 WRC will again be held at the Millennium Stadium in the heart of Cardiff.
Wales Rally GB organisers are hoping for bigger crowds this year now the event has reverted to being the finale of the WRC.
The event will also double as the final round of the British Rally Championship.
