Carloz Sainz is in sight of a record 26th world rally win after moving into the lead of the Rally of Argentina. The Citreon driver, who shares the present record with Colin McRae, went in front after race leader Marcus Gronholm crashed out on stage 19.
Sainz holds a one minute, 36.2 second advantage over team-mate Sebastien Loeb with Ford's Francois Duval in third.
"I have to be careful not to make a mistake," Sainz told the official World Rally website.
Finland's Harri Rovanpera was fastest in his Peugeot over the final two special stages and lies fifth overall.
Double champion Gronholm found trouble when his Peugeot hit a rock and lost a wheel.
The Finn was forced to retire from the race on day three along with compatriot Kristian Solberg who had problems with his gears.
