Redcar Bears have signed Slovenian rider Maks Gregoric to cover for Gary Havelock in Thursday's first round Jack Young Shield visit of Scunthorpe.

The 24-year-old will stand in for Havelock, who is still recovering from four broken vertebrae wings sustained against Edinburgh on 24 August.

Team boss Brian Havelock said: "Maks has been performing well in Poland as well as his home country of Slovenia.

"It also allows him to get to know the club and the track."
