Peter Karlsson is ready to lead Wolves into the play-offs |
Wolverhampton prepared for the Elite League play-offs in fine style with a 62-31 win against Coventry at Monmore Green in the Midland League. Adam Skornicki and Freddie Lindgren reeled off paid maximums while Peter Karlsson only dropped points through a machine failure in heat 13. Wolves were in control from the very start, dropping only one point in the first seven heats to lead 29-7. Edward Kennett's heat 14 victory was the only Bees race win all evening. Wolverhampton can now look forward to the Elite League play-offs which are scheduled over four successive Mondays. On 21 September they are at home to Lakeside in the first leg of their semi-final, with the return fixture in Essex on 28 September. If successful, Wolves will progress to ride against either Swindon or Coventry in the final on 5 and 12 October. Swindon and Wolves are hot favourites to make the final after finishing the regular season more than 20 points clear of the rest of the field. WOLVERHAMPTON: Adam Skornicki 14+1, Fredrik Lindgren 11+1, Peter Karlsson 11+1, Tai Woffinden 9+2, Nicolai Klindt 9+1, William Lawson 4+1, Joe Haines 4+1. COVENTRY: Edward Kennett 11, Olly Allen 6+1, Rory Schlein 6+1, Chris Harris 5+1, Ricky Wells 2, Josh Auty 1+1, Ben Barker R/R.
