Poole Pirates are hoping to sign a replacement for injured rider Jason Doyle in the next few days.

The Australian is likely to miss most of the season after injuring his shoulder in a crash 10 days ago.

Pirates boss Neil Middleditch told BBC Radio Solent: "We're in negotiations. We had to go abroad and talk to a few but we hope to get one over here soon."

Canadian Kyle Legault is also out of the second leg of the Elite Shield final on Wednesday.

The Pirates trail by eight points after the first leg at Eastbourne and begin the defence of their Elite League title at home to Swindon on Monday.
