Redcar Bears have signed four riders as part of their squad for the 2009 Premier League speedway season.

Promoter Brian Havelock has persuaded former Workington rider Carl Stonehewer to sign terms with the Bears after his release from the Young Shield winners.

Joining him is German international Robbie Kessler, who filled in for the Bears in the 2007 season, and Ben Wilson from Sheffield Tigers.

Bears reserve rider Benji Compton has been promoted to the full squad.
