Davidsson has been in great form for the Hammers this season |
Lakeside Hammers have been dealt a blow to the end of their season hopes after losing Jonas Davidsson to injury. The in-form Swede crashed during a meeting in his homeland on Tuesday evening, suffering a punctured lung, broken rib and other internal injuries. He is likely to miss much of the remainder of the season and joins Joonas Kylmakorpi on the sidelines. The Hammers will use number eight Kauko Nieminen and rider replacement as cover for the next two meetings. Team boss Jon Cook said: "Jonas has a long career ahead of him as a Hammer so we don't need him rushing back early and giv him long-term problems. "However his performances over the whole of the season will leave a huge gap, particularly away from home." The Purfleet side have two Elite League fixtures in two days, starting with an away trip to Peterborough on Thursday and at home to Wolverhampton on Friday evening.
