The injury-hit Coventry Bees suffered their second successive defeat of the week after losing 54-36 away to Poole Pirates on Wednesday.

Rory Schlein top-scored for the visitors who were without captain Chris Harris and Billy Janniro.

Bees were still in contention going into the final four heats of the Elite League meeting at Wimborne Road.

Olly Allen injured his wrist but is expected to be fit for the return fixture on Friday.

Coventry will race a patched-up team at Brandon with Schlein and Simon Stead absent due to World Championship qualifiers.

Bees lost to Lakeside Hammers on Monday.
