Pijper has struggled since breaking his collarbone |
Swindon Robins have signed Austrian rider Manuel Hauzinger as replacement for Theo Pijper who has been released by the Elite League leaders. Hauzinger, 25, joins on loan from Premier League side the Isle of Wight. Swindon manager Alun Rossiter said: "Manuel Hauzinger is a true racer who should do well at Blunsdon." Dutchman Pijper has struggled with his disappointing recent form and failed to score in the Robins' 53-40 home win over Peterborough on Thursday night. Rossiter added: "We're not instantly expecting huge scores but are hoping Manuel will be able to pick up an increasing number of points at the season progresses." "Telling Theo he was being released was probably one of the worst things I've ever had to do. "Obviously the crash in which he broke his collarbone earlier in the season was a massive factor in his disappointing scores and I don't feel Theo every fully recovered from that. "His low scoring wasn't doing him or Swindon any favours so in the end this is the best decision all round. "We thank Theo for his efforts, nobody can ever doubt his commitment. There are already four Premier League clubs interested in his services and we wish him well for the future."
