Swales hails Risager performance

Morten Risager
Risager's 10+1 at Poole was his highest score of the season

Peterborough Panthers team manager Trevor Swales has said Morten Risager is beginning to show how good he can be in the Elite League.

The 20-year-old Dane scored 10+1 to help Panthers to a 46-44 away win at Poole Pirates on Wednesday.

Swales told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I've always known that Morten can be a class act, as does everyone, but it depends which Morten turns up.

"Last night, Morten turned up and he was in buoyant mood."

He added: "Contrary to what other people have said previously, he didn't just do it from the gate, he battled and came from the back in three or four of his rides."

The win at Poole was Panthers' first away win this season and Swales admitted the result will have surprised many people.

"There was hardly anyone who would have given us a cat in hell's chance of going down there and getting a result like that.

"But I've always said that we have got a team this is capable of doing something and I think we showed signs of that last Saturday at Eastbourne and then last night it came to fruition."

Swales is hoping for another away win at Swindon on Thursday and insisted: "I've always said before that if I didn't think we could win we shouldn't go.

"You mustn't be defeated before you go and you must believe you can win."

However, he admitted: "I personally, as a team manager, have never won at Swindon and I'm not sure that Peterborough, as a club, have ever won at Swindon."
