Aces captain Screen stands down

Speedway

Joe Screen has stepped down as Belle Vue Aces captain so he can sort out his bike problems.

Monday's 48-45 defeat at Wolverhampton saw Screen blow two engines in his first two rides.

Jason Crump and Charlie Gjedde are the front-runners to succeed Screen, who hopes to return to the captaincy soon.

He told the Manchester Evening News: "I have not been able to give it the attention I wanted because I have been too busy sorting out my own problems."
