Somerset Rebels have announced that Newport Wasps fans with season tickets can use them at any Somerset home match for the rest of the 2008 season. The British Speedway Promoters' Association (BSPA) announced that Newport Wasps could not fulfil their fixtures this season. It follows the death of their founder Tim Stone. "It is never good news when a speedway club has to cease operation," said Somerset Rebels promoter Mike Golding. "Given the circumstances behind Newport's situation, it is doubly sad." He added: "We at Somerset always had an excellent relationship with Newport Speedway especially with the Wasps being our local rivals. "This is our way to give Wasps fans the opportunity to continue to watch speedway until they hopefully get their own team back on track." Meanwhile, the table-topping Rebels are set to name an unchanged side for their Premier League match at home to sixth-placed Berwick on Friday night.
