Adams advice crucial for Robins

Leigh Adams
Adams is the Swindon Robins' undisputed number one rider

Swindon co-owner Gary Patchett says the work being done behind the scenes by captain Leigh Adams is a big reason why the Robins are top of the Elite League.

"Leigh will continue to talk and pass on his invaluable advice providing that he thinks the riders are listening to him," Patchett told BBC Radio Swindon.

"Last year Leigh was talking to one or two riders and it seemed the advice was going in one ear and out the other."

"But now he's got six guys that want to learn from him."

The Robins have a six point lead at the top of the Elite League at this stage after losing just one of their eight meetings so far.

Keeping Adams at the Abbey Stadium was a big decision over the winter as he takes up more than a quarter of the team's points limit.

But according to Patchett it has paid off because the little things that the Grand Prix star is able to tell his team-mates is helping them to improve.

"They know this guy is one of the best riders in the world," he added.
