Adams has been in excellent form for the Robins this season |
Swindon Robins made a dramatic comeback to draw their meeting with Ipswich Witches on Thursday with a maximum in the final race. The Witches led for much of the night, and held a four-point lead over the Robins going into the last heat. But Leigh Adams and Troy Batchelor took first and second to level the scores. "I think we were lucky to get the draw in the end and needed to dig deep. It is a point gained." Robins boss Alun Rossiter told BBC Radio Swindon. "No-one gave us a cat in hell's chance of getting four points out of the two meetings against Ipswich. "But on our own track we should be doing better than that, and we should have won." Adams top-scored for the home side with a paid 15-point maximum, with Batchelor claiming 11 from his five rides. Swindon had missed the injured Mads Korneliussen, although Ipswich were also without two of their riders. However, Korneliussen hopes he can play a significant part in the Elite League season. "That was a big target for me this year, I wanted to be second heat leader if I could," he told BBC Radio Swindon. Korneliussen thinks that team spirit has been the key to the Robins' start to the season, which has surprised those that tipped them to struggle. "I think everybody's trying their heart out every time and we've never been beat before we go out. We're gelling," he added.
