Brummies may have to look for a replacement for Legault |
Birmingham Brummies major new signing Kyle Legault is facing a long lay-off after breaking his leg during the Premier Trophy match with Rye House. The Canadian suffered a broken fibula after crashing in heat 6 of Wednesday's meeting which the Brummies won 50-36. Team-mate James Birkenshaw was also injured, damaging his shoulder and ribs, but felt it was unavoidable. "I could do nothing about it. Kyle had lost it coming out of the turn and I couldn't go wide of him," he said. "I couldn't switch inside. I feel beaten up," Birkenshaw added. Reserves Jack Hargreaves and Lee Smart came to the Brummies rescue, chalking up 24 points between them in a meeting cut short by a 2200 BST curfew. Legault was due to have surgery on Thursday, and the likelihood is that he will be ruled out for the rest of the season.
