Lyons was a key figure in the Brummies' excellent comeback season in 2007 |
Birmingham Brummies will be captained by Jason Lyons for the new Premier League speedway season. Lyons was a key part of the team that narrowly missed out on the play-offs as the Brummies made a spectacular return to the sport after 21 years away.
Team manager Graham Drury is thrilled by Lyons's appointment.
"This was one of the easiest decisions I've ever made in my time as a manager. Jason was an inspirational figure throughout last season," he said.
The Brummies had a memorable 2007 as speedway returned to the city for the first time since 1986 finishing second in the Premier League and runners up in the Premier Trophy.
They finalised their line-up for this year with the recent signings of James Birkinshaw and Lee Smart.
They will join Lyons, Adam Roynon, Kyle Legault, Jack Hargreaves and Phil Morris at Perry Barr.
