Lakeside Hammers ended their preparations for the new Elite League season with a convincing 58-35 victory over the Peterborough Panthers. Heavy rain put the meeting in doubt but, after a three o'clock decision to go ahead, the work paid off. Andreas Jonsson top scored with a 15-point maximum, equalling the track record in Heat One. He told BBC London 94.9: "I'm thrilled the positive attitude has paid off. "We will go to Peterborough next Thursday looking for the points that will take us into the next stage of the Craven Shield. "The Hammers fans deserve some silverware and I believe we have the team to achieve that this season." Lakeside's Elite League season gets underway on Monday night when they travel to Belle Vue, followed by Thursday's meeting at Peterborough.
