The Lakeside Hammers preparations for the new Elite League speedway season continued with a win and defeat against the Ipswich Witches on Good Friday. The Hammers came out on top in the first Craven Shield match winning the away leg 47-43.
Andreas Jonsson top scored with 11 plus one bonus point, with Jarek Hampel taking 12 points for the Witches.
But Ipswich made much easier work of the return at Arena Essex, running out 52-40 winners.
Jonsson again top scored for the Hammers with 11, while Piotr Swiderski made an impressive 14 plus two for the visitors.
