Broadhurst bows out on a high |
Wayne Broadhurst is planning to go out in a blaze of glory at the World Indoor Ice speedway event at Telford. The Shropshire rider - a regular competitor at the big event - has decided to make this year's competition his last.
"I've always enjoyed riding at Telford," he told BBC Radio Shropshire.
And to avoid the temptation of a return, he added: "I'll be selling all my stuff, to make sure I won't be able to go back and do it again."

Broadhurst has been riding for over 20 years and is sure to attract plenty of support from Telford and receive a hero's send-off at his finale event on 24 February.
"I enjoyed it, racing two or three times a week, so you're always involved in the sport. The worst thing about it is all the travelling you have to do, but it's been thoroughly enjoyable."
Broadhurst will stay working locally as a car mechanic, but he will not entirely be hanging up his leathers, as he has bought a new motocross bike.
"I'll continue riding on the tracks, and ride with the Shrewsbury Club at Condover," he said. "I'll do a few of their events on the dirt. But you won't see me back on the ice."
