Cadwell Park to stage British Superbikes triple-header

Cadwell Park will host a third British Superbike Championship race at its August Bank Holiday meeting.

The race on August 28 will replace the second race at Oulton Park which was abandoned because of torrential rain.

BSB series director Stuart Higgs told BBC Lincolnshire: "We feel we have an obligation to the fans and teams to stage the full complement of races.

"Cadwell is the biggest event on the BSB calendar and it gives an extra race at a crucial time in the championship."

The round at the circuit near Louth is the final one before the championship is split into two, with the top six riders going on to challenge for the title in the remaining three rounds.

We recognise we're in the entertainment business and if it means walking up the steep hill from the pit lane at Cadwell a few extra times it's a price worth paying

Higgs added: "We often refer tongue-in-cheek to Cadwell as the Monaco Grand Prix of the championship, where teams sacrifice such things as permanent pit buildings and a short walk to the paddock.

"But we recognise we're in the entertainment business and if it means walking up the steep hill from the pit lane at Cadwell a few extra times it's a price worth paying."

Cadwell Park staged two rounds of the 2010 British Superbike Championship because of redevelopment work at Donington Park.

Josh Brookes won a race at each of the rounds with Tommy Hill, who was victorious in Sunday's opening race at Oulton Park, and Ryuichi Kiyonari claiming one win each.
