Capirossi is MotoGP's most experienced rider |
Suzuki's Loris Capirossi will miss this weekend's Aragon MotoGP in Spain as he recovers from an operation on his hand. The Italian, 37, was injured in a first-lap collision with Nicky Hayden at Misano on 5 September. "The surgery to reattach the tendon to his right-hand little finger is healing well," said Suzuki on their website. "But, on the advice of his surgeon, Loris must keep it immobilised for at least another week in order to avoid damaging the repair." Spaniard Alvaro Bautista will be the team's sole rider in Spain. "I am still feeling a bit of pain and I'm going to the hospital every day to have the wound cleaned and dressed," said Capirossi, who is 15th in the standings. "So although I could possibly be able to ride I wouldn't be fit enough and it might jeopardise my attendance and competitiveness at Motegi [the Japanese GP on 3 October] if I did." The Aragon race, the 13th of the 2010 championship, will be the third race of the season held in Spain after being scheduled as a late replacement for the cancelled Hungarian GP.
