Toseland was born in Sheffield but lives in Ramsey

Isle of Man-based rider James Toseland finished his debut at Japan's Montegi MotoGP on Sunday in 11th position.

Known for his aggressive riding style, the 27-year-old Tech 3 Yamaha rider started 10th on the grid.

Throughout the 4.8km race, Toseland battled to defend his position against American John Hopkins.

Sheffield-born Toseland maintained 10th position for the majority of the 24 laps, before finally being pushed into 11th place by Hopkins.

Toseland finished 37.574 seconds behind leader Valentino Rossi, who clinched his sixth MotoGP title in 43 minutes and 9.599 seconds.
