Luke de la Cour got two thirds, a second and a ninth in one of his best weekends of Powerbike racing.

De la Cour was one of seven Jersey racers competing at Croix en Ternois, near Calais, in an event organised by the British Motorcycle Racing Club.

There was also a best ever result for Rob Currie when he finished in ninth place in the final race of the weekend.

"I'm very poor in the wet so I was quite pleased to do it in the rain," Currie told BBC Radio Jersey.

I think all the guys excelled themselves against the competition

"It was an exceptionally good weekend," he added, "I rode better definitely in the wet but there's still a lot more I need to learn."

Currie enjoyed battling all weekend with team-mate Nick Daghorn, with each beating the other over the line in two races.

Steve de La Cour was also competing in the Powerbikes class, his best result of the weekend was 12th.

In the Rookie 600 class Chris Hamelin's time in France started promisingly with two third places, but ended with suspected fractured ribs after sliding off his bike in the first of Sunday's races.

Jersey's Gary Hotton raced consistently all weekend with a top finish of sixth, before he crashed without injury on the second day.

Also in the Rookie class Tom Vautier notched up two 11th and a 10th place.

"To be fair everybody had a brilliant weekend, I mean obviously without the crashes," Currie described.

"I think all the guys excelled themselves against the competition."
