Dunlop ponders road race options

William Dunlop is considering an offer to compete at selected national road races during the rest of this season.

The Ballymoney rider had signalled his intention to concentrate on short circuits after the death of his father Robert at the North West 200.

He won three 125cc races at a recent MRO round and will ride at Snetterton in the British championship on Sunday.

"Nothing has been agreed yet but I may have a Superbike and 600cc for some of the smaller road races if I want them."

"While the Ulster Grand Prix is a possibility, I am thinking more of taking in some of the smaller road races, including perhaps the Skerries at the start of July.

"I only have a 250cc for the roads at the moment as I told my sponsor that I did not want to ride the big bike for the rest of the year, but I am looking at something fresh and seeing what bikes I can possibly ride."

Dunlop will compete at Snettrton for the KPR team this weekend and is hopeful of performing well.

"I will just go out, try my best and see how competitive I can be.

"I think I am capable of a podium finish, but top spot would be even nicer," he added.
