Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo romped to pole position for Sunday's Jerez MotoGP after blowing away the competition in qualifying on Saturday. The Spaniard followed up his pole at the opening race of the season in Qatar with another dominant display. His winning time was one minute 38.789 seconds, 0.6 seconds ahead of compatriot Dani Pedrosa. Colin Edwards and Nicky Hayden came third and fourth, with Casey Stoner in seventh and James Toseland eighth.  | 606: DEBATE |
Lorenzo managed to break Loris Capirossi's previous lap record three times during the qualifying session. Toseland's eighth place finish was all the more impressive as he spend time on a respirator on Thursday because of a heavy chest infection, which has needed antibiotics.
