Adrian Archibald has had a long association with the TAS team |
Adrian Archibald hopes to add to his tally of three TT wins when he competes under the banner of his own AMA Racing Team at this year's event in June. "If I didn't think I was capable of winning races, then I wouldn't be going so hopefully I can get back on track," said the Ballymoney Suzuki rider. "I will have some support from Phillip Neill of TAS and want to take in more races than I have in recent years. "I wanted to do my own thing this year and make some changes to the bikes." Archibald was speaking at the launch of the 2008 TT Races in the Isle of Man, where Relentless TAS Suzuki boss Hector Neill said he was "impressed with the power of the engines we have for this year". "We have an exciting line-up this year with Cameron Donald and Bruce Anstey on board and the TT is a complete one-off in terms of setting up bikes, totally different from anywhere else. Six laps of this circuit is a real challenge," said Neill. | We have done a lot of development over the winter and tested some new ignition systems |
Anstey said he hoped to compete in "a couple of races before the North West 200 and would then be ready to go". "I have struggled to make an impact in the Superbike class at the TT but I think this is the best one we have ever had. "It is good that we have Michael Laverty helping to develop the bike ahead of his British Superbike challenge and I am really looking forward to the Superbike and Senior races," added the New Zealander. Dubliner Martin Finnegan revealed that he was "really concentrating on training" ahead of this year's Isle of Man spectacular. "The last couple of years have been very hectic for me personally but I am confident that I am in a good team with JMF Millsport Yamaha and have good machinery this year. "We have done a lot of development over the winter and tested some new ignition systems which seem to be working well. "The bikes seem reliable too as Conor (Cummins) did not have a single breakdown last year and I can't wait to get on the track at Cookstown and Tandragee, and perhaps take in a few British Superstock rounds as well."
