Toseland leads the championship by 21 points |
World Superbike Championship leader James Toseland says he will not switch to MotoGP unless he can secure a ride with one of the top factory teams. Toseland, who won the World Superbike title for Ducati in 2004, has been linked to rides for Ducati and Yamaha.
Toseland told BBC Five Live: "My ambition is to move but I need the bike and I need the team to be competitive.
"I'm really honest with my team now, Ten Kate. Unless I can be competitive there is no way I'm going to leave."
Toseland will talk to potential suitors at the British MotoGP round at Donington Park this weekend but has kept Ten Kate in the picture.

Toseland recently met the Gresini team, currently a Honda satellite team with Italian Marco Melandri and Spaniard Toni Elias in MotoGP.
He said: "They seemed to be a good set-up but they're not sure what kind of package they will get next year."
Toseland is wary of switching at the wrong time in his career.
He said: "We've seen it so many times before with Neil Hodgson, Shane Byrne and Chris Walker. They went because at the time in their careers they had to go."
