Ian Hutchinson has secured his first win at the TT races |
Yorkshire's Ian Hutchinson secured his first win at the Isle of Man TT when he pipped John McGuinness by 2.5 seconds in Wednesday's 600cc Supersport race. Race favourite Bruce Anstey had been leading for the first two laps but his bike would not fire after a pit stop which probably cost him the race.
Anstey had to settle for fourth behind Guy Martin whose third made it a 1-2-3 for Honda machines.
Martin set a lap record of 125.16mph on his final circuit.
Isle of Man riders Nigel Beattie and Conor Cummins were fifth and sixth.
Kawasaki rider Ryan Farquhar was the first Ulsterman to finish in seventh place.
Winner Hutchinson said his victory was a special moment in his career.
"I just pushed right to the end. I had my fingers crossed all the way round," said the Bingley rider.
"I just want to thank my team and all the boys. It has all worked out perfectly.
"I really enjoy riding the 600s around here."
