Gordon Crockard has been on form in the British championship |
Gordon Crockard scored points in the opening round of the World motocross MX1 championship in the Netherlands. Crockard qualified in 23rd place and was 24th in race one but improved to take 11th in race two and lies 15th overall in the championship standings.
The race winners were Spaniard Jonathan Barragan and New Zealander Jos Coppins.
Ballyclare lad Martin Barr failed to finish the first MX2 race but recovered to claim 16th place in race two with both races won by Antonio Cairoli.
Crockard said: "It was certainly a tough start to my MX1 campaign and we paid the price after not having been able to test enough in the sand.
"I was paying the price after my cold last weekend and if I'm honest I struggled with my confidence and race one was rubbish.
"Race two was a lot better after we reverted to an old set-up that we used earlier in the season at Hawkstone Park.
"We changed suspension settings and after pushing hard to catch Max Nagl from Germany I eventually finished 11th.
"Hopefully we can get back to top form this weekend before heading to Spain in a fortnight's time for round two."
