Guy Martin won four races at the Ulster GP on Saturday |
Lincolnshire's Guy Martin became only the second rider to win four races in a record breaking Ulster Grand Prix at Dundrod on Saturday. The Yamaha ace won both Superbike and Supersport races while Ian Hutchinson from Yorkshire set a new fastest ever road race lap with 130.828mph.
Lisburn's Darran Lindsay was the 250cc winner and New Zealander Bruce Anstey triumphed in the Superstock event.
Meanwhile, a big crowd at Dundrod has secured the meeting's immediate future.
The Ulster GP had faced financial difficulties but race organisers confirmed that Saturday's turn-out means it is safe, at least for another year.
Martin, who had never previously won an international race, was relieved to hang on for a thrilling victory in the feature Superbike race, edging out Donegal's Raymond Porter.
"That was a hard race. I never looked behind but I could hear Raymond Porter's bike," he said.
The second Superbike race was stopped after three laps because of heavy rain - Martin was leading at the time and was awarded the win.
For Lindsay, it was a triumphant return after missing recent GPs as he took the 250 flag ahead of Ian Lougher and William Dunlop.
"It was an awesome race, nip and tuck all the way," said Lindsay.
"William had a go at me a few times on the last lap. I just held on to the line and got the lap record which was brilliant."
Hutchinson also broke the Supersport lap record twice to add to his world record breaking lap in the feature Superbike race.
