Chaz Davies hopes the Honda will suit his riding style |
Chaz Davies will be out to prove a point in the 250cc British MotoGP at Donington Park this Sunday. The 19-year-old Welshman lost his place on the Campetella Racing team this month but has been invited to ride for the Arie Molenaar Racing Honda team.
Davies replaces Arnaud Vincent after the Frenchman suffered four broken ribs in a crash at the Italy GP in Mugello.
"I'm a bit surprised I will be racing at Donington and thank you to Team Molenaar," Davies said on his website.
Davies has spent almost his whole senior career riding Aprilia machines.
But after the financial problems that blighted his Campetella prospects, Davies is looking forward to the challenge of getting to grips with a Honda.
 | The Honda and the way they work has always suited my style |
"I don't expect any miracles by any means because it's going to be a complete learning weekend after being with the 250cc Aprilia for so many years," Davies added.
"The way I look at it is that I've got nothing to lose and it will be interesting to be able to compare the Honda.
"Personally I think the Honda and the way they work has always suited my style, well... at least it used to on the 125cc.
"The Honda is generally a smaller bike than the Aprilia but the advantage of the Molenaar team is that they ran (Czech rider Jakub) Smrz last year, who is reasonably tall, and they have extended parts for the bike that should help me."
It is a week of different rides for Davies, who on Tuesday completed a 100-mile charity cycle trip from his home in Presteigne, mid-Wales, to Donington Park.
All the money raised will go to MotoGP's official charity, Riders For Health.
