Factory backing delights Davies
Chaz Davies
Davies has struggled on under-powered private bikes
Welshman Chaz Davies has landed a works-backed ride for the new 250cc world championship season.

The 18-year-old, who has impressed on second-rate private bikes in his 250cc career so far, will ride a Campetella Aprilia, with some factory support.

"At last I have the chance to prove myself on some equal machinery and show what I'm capable of," said Davies.

"Last year was tough but I stuck at it and it's great to join such an established team as Campetella."

Presteigne-born Davies, whose best result so far is fifth at Valencia in 2004, is keen to get his pre-season started.

"Hopefully the bikes will be available in a couple of weeks and we can get testing," he said.

Davies will be joined at Campetella by Japanese rider Taro Sekiguchi.
