Toseland is confident he can compete with Bayliss in Spain |
James Toseland has vowed to keep up the pressure on series leader Troy Bayliss ahead of this weekend's World Superbike races in Valencia. Britain's former champion goes into Sunday's third round just a point behind the Australian Ducati rider.
Honda's Toseland said: "Troy only has a one point advantage and I don't have any intention of letting him get away."
He teams up in Spain with Italian rider Giovanni Bussei, who replaces the injured Karl Muggeridge.
Toseland landed heavily on his head at the same official test at Valencia which saw Muggeridge fracture two vertebrae.
But he said: "I really believe in this race, even if I know Bayliss will be really fast like in testing, and Troy Corser and Noriyuki Haga will be strong.
"I am really motivated and focused, and I want to continue to post important results after the great start of the season I have had."
