Bayliss and Corser dominated the second round of the championship |
Australians Troy Corser and Troy Bayliss thrilled the home crowd with victories in the two World Superbikes races at Phillip Island on Sunday. Alstare Suzuki rider Corser edged out Alex Barros of Brazil in race one, with Britain's James Toseland in third.
And Bayliss then made it a home double on his Xerox Ducati as he got the better of Toseland in race two.
Corser fell in the second race and was hit by Alex Barros' Honda but suffered no serious injuries.
"I had some X-rays and everything seems to be OK," said Corser. "I lost the rear and it put me over the front."
After his win in the second race, Bayliss said he only narrowly avoided a repeat of the tyre-wear problem which cost him a win in the opener.
"Obviously I was a bit disappointed after the first race and I was pretty keen for the second," said Bayliss.
"But with three laps to go I was nearly in the same situation - but not at that level - as I was in the first race so maybe we have to work a bit more on the set-up."
Toseland admitted there was little he could do to catch Bayliss in the second race.
"I pushed on all the way to the end just in case he had the same problems to the first race, but when he got through he was consistently faster and I had to settle for second place," he said.
