MotoGP engines are to be downsized from 2006 in a move designed to improve safety, the International Motorcycling Federation said on Saturday. Bikes will have their power cut from 990cc to 800cc and fuel tank capacity reduced by three litres to 21 litres.
Two-stroke engines have also been outlawed by the Grand Prix Commission.
Riders have also been banned from using two-way radio and stopping in the pits when observing a ride-through penalty with immediate effect.
