Shane Byrne admitted that Team KR's partnership with car manufacturers Proton was a step into the unknown but it turned out to be a big let-down. Team KR and engine suppliers KTM went their separate ways early in the season and Byrne was left rideless, saying he was fed up with having no fun racing. Team Roberts' one point of the season came at the US Grand Prix. After such a huge disappointment in 2005, they can only hope for better luck all round in 2006.
