Flying start for Corser in Qatar
Troy Corser
Corser is confident he can do well for his new team
Troy Corser topped the standings after first qualifying for the opening races of 2005 World Superbikes Championship.

The Australian, who joined Alstare Suzuki from Foggy Petronas Racing in October, clocked a time of two minutes and 01.244 seconds in Doha.

Second fastest was Luis Cardoso Jose of Spain on a Yamaha (2:01.388), with the Ducati machine of France's Regis Laconi in third (2:01.980).

World champion James Toseland was 10th with fellow Briton Chris Walker 14th.

Toseland escaped with only bruising after a crash in testing at the Losail circuit last weekend.
