Jeremy McWilliams says he is "delighted" to be riding for the Stobart Honda team in the 2005 British Superbike Championship. "We want to be competitive right from the start and to go in and be asked to win the championship is daunting but I'm looking forward to it," he said.
"I want to win races again but realise it is a very competitive series.
"I will be team-mates with another Northern Ireland rider Michael Laverty and we will work well together."
The 40-year-old had been expected to have a final year in MotoGP with the Kenny Roberts KTM team but a proposed deal fell through.
During his 11-year MotoGp career, he claimed a 250cc first place riding for Aprilia in the 2001 Dutch GP at Assen.
He now will have the chance to get back on the winning trail in the British Superbike series which begins at Brands Hatch on Easter Monday, 28 March.
"I've come back to win races. It's a new challenge and I want to be competitive right from the start although I know it's a tough series."
McWilliams has signed a two-year deal for the team which is owned by Cumbrian businessman Paul Bird.
