Ulster's Jeremy McWilliams came home 22nd in final practice for Sunday's Czech Republic MotoGP. The 41-year-old from Glengormley was making a surprise comeback on the Grand Prix circuit, riding the Team Roberts Proton KR machine.
Spaniard Sete Gibernau claimed pole ahead of Honda team-mate Nicky Hayden.
Title holder Valentino Rossi, who needs just two more wins to retain his title, will start on the second row of the grid after coming fourth.
