Adrian Coates raced to victory in the Superstock event |
Antrim rider Adrian Coates won the British Superstock race at Silverstone on Sunday to move into second place in the championship standings. Marshall Neill was eighth with Ryan Rainey a further place back, while John Laverty finished 13th.
Michael Laverty suffered bruising in a crash in the first Superbike race which saw Jonathan Rea come in 12th and Marty Nutt 18th.
Eugene Laverty and Denver Robb failed to finish the Supersport race.
It was Coates' second straight Superstock victory and it leaves the local ace 28 points behind championship leader Paul Young.
"This was a lot tighter than the last win at Snetterton a fortnight ago and I am now hoping to make it three-in-a-row at Cadwell Park next week," Coates told BBC Sport.
"I am trying my best to catch Paul Young and if I keep racking up the points and he has a few more bad weekends then it is going to be close come Brands Hatch in October."
Michael Laverty was unable to take part in the second Superbike race but he expects to be fit for Cadwell Park.
Larne teenager Rea was the only N Ireland finisher in the second Superbike race, securing 11th place.
