Spaniard Sete Gibernau was second in the world championship to Valentino Rossi last year and saw 2004 as his big chance to win the title. Rossi's defection to Yamaha left three Honda teams battling for supremacy and Gibernau carried his momentum through the winter into the new season. But while he remained Rossi's main challenger this year, he has been forced to continue as second fiddle. Gibernau had the small consolation of being best of the Honda riders.
