Ryan Farquhar won his appeal against a disqualification |
Ryan Farquhar has successfully appealed against his disqualification from the second 600cc race at the North-West 200.
The Dungannon rider won the race but was later disqualified for allegedly passing Ian Lougher under a yellow flag on the final lap at Metropole.
The flag was shown to warn riders of oil on the course.
Farquhar has now been declared the rightful winner of the race and has also got back the 100 he was fined.
The appeals panel of the MCUI's Ulster Centre took three and a half hours to deliberate on the matter on Wednesday night.
Farquhar said justice had been done and he was now a double North-West winner.
"We got a fair hearing and I can be credited with winning the race fair and square," said Farquhar.
"I will get my prizemoney, my fine and appeal deposit all returned, but most important is being credited with the win."
