Davies' testing time
Chaz Davies
Chaz Davies must sit exams before sitting on his Aprilia Germany bike
Welsh teenager Chaz Davies will juggle racing in this weekend's Italian GP with taking his GCSE exams.

The Aprilia Germany team member was taking exams on Thursday in a room close to the Mugello circuit at the same time as his classmates were back in Wales sitting the same papers.

The 16-year-old, who is the youngest rider ever to score points in a 250cc GP, sat his first exams yesterday and will continue on Monday and Tuesday, stopping only for qualifying Friday and Saturday, then racing on Sunday.

Davies is relaxed about fitting his exams in around his racing but is mainly focused on Sunday's GP.

"My mum and the school have organised everything," Davies said. "Obviously I want to do well in the exams, but the race on Sunday is really important after the problems I had at Le Mans."

I'm looking forward to the race - certainly more than the exams!

Davies was forced to retire after four laps of the French round because of a problem with his machine.

"I really like the fast corners at Mugello and I'm looking forward to the race - certainly more than the exams!" he added.

"It's going to be a long, hard week and let's hope for some good results."

While Davies tries to concentrate on his exams and racing, the main focus of attention at Mugello will be on the Ducati Marlboro team of Loris Capirossi and Troy Bayliss.

Ducati are enjoying a productive debut season in MotoGP with the new Desmosedici and the team are expecting to attract plenty of fans to Mugello this weekend.

Capirossi knows the circuit well and is looking forward to the GP.

"This will be a great weekend for us - it's my home GP and it's Ducati's home GP," he said.

"I have ridden for another Italian factory but this is Ducati and it's MotoGP, so it's very, very big!"
