Volkswagen wants to take part in Formula 1 in the future, according to the German car giant's motorsports boss Wolfgang Dürheimer. "I could in 2018, when the group is in the auto industry up front, imagine a Formula 1 involvement. We have enough good brands that could do that.

Former Ferrari engine designer Gilles Simon is to be the technical director of the new Pure Corporation engine company, and will start work on August 1 on the company's V6 engine for 2014. Simon has most recently been working for the FIA as its director, technical and powertrain.
