Formula 1 gossip and rumours from international media

Johnny Herbert believes the right decision has been made by dropping the Bahrain Grand Prix from the calendar for 2011. "With the situation [in March], we could see what had been going on out there and you have to have it monitored," the former grand prix winner said. "It was right in the end to cancel it. It can always go back on the calendar next year." (Press Association)

Virgin's Timo Glock believes the team were right to part company with Wirth Research. "We all want to move forward and the team wasn't happy with the performance of the car so they made the decision," he said. "A change like this is never the easiest, but to move on in the long-term it is very positive." Full story: autosport.com

Michael Schumacher has argued Mercedes need to be given time to turn into a race-winning team. They failed to win a race last season and have yet to top the podium in 2011 but Schumacher said that improvements would eventually pay dividends. He said: "Everything that we put in now could be very important for next year. We are losing time with the problems we have while the others make progress. So we have to solve it this year or we will drag them [the problems] into next season."Full story: ESPN F1
