The chances of a grand prix in Bahrain later this year appear to have receded following a summit meeting between the teams and Formula 1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone. The teams have expressed concerns about squeezing the race in at the back of the season on logistical grounds.

Lewis Hamilton ended Friday's practice in Monaco even more confident that McLaren can challenge for pole position and victory in Sunday's race. "I just love driving the car here. It's the best thing I've ever done and is so exciting," he said.

Force India boss Vijay Mallya says there is no immediate prospect of driver Adrian Sutil being suspended in the light of the nightclub incident involving Eric Lux, the chief executive of the Renault team's parent company, in China. Mallya made the point that no action would be taken before legal proceedings are brought against the German.
